Activated carbons from oil-fired fly ashes
نویسنده
چکیده
Introduction. The aim of this investigation is to prepare activated carbons with good sorbent characteristics from oil-fired fly ash, looking for suitable activation processes to produce surface sites with high reactivity on the carbonaceous matrices [1-4]. In particular, the nitrogen surface sites, formed by gaseous ammonia reaction at 800°C, could greatly increase the adsorption of gaseous species with acidic characteristics, enhancing the overall efficiency of the treatment process of the flue gases [2].

The Preparation of Silicon and Aluminum Extracts from Tuncbilek and Orhaneli Fly Ashes by Alkali Fusion
Coal fly ash is formed as a solid waste product from the combustion of coal in coal fired power stations. Huge amounts of fly ash are produced globally every year and are predicted to increase. Nowadays, less than half of the fly ash is used as a raw material for cement manufacturing, construction and the rest of it is disposed as a waste causing yet another environmental concern. For this reas...
متن کاملArsenic leachability and speciation in fly ashes from coal fired power plants
To determine dominant factors on arsenic leaching from the coal fly ash, arsenic leaching test under a constant pH was performed. Twelve fly ash samples were collected from two coal fired power plants (600 MWe) having different boiler types. Arsenic in the raw coal was almost all associated with the fly ash in both power plants; however arsenic leaching fraction was strongly differed in boiler ...
متن کاملDetermination of Selenium by Icp-ms and Hg-icp-ms in Coal, Fly Ashes and Sorbents Used for Flue Gas Cleaning
Selenium is an element of environmental concern which content in coal is generally lower than 2 mg g. During coal utilization for power generation this element may be emitted in gas phase or condensed in the particulate matter. To avoid the problems originated by such emissions different systems are being developed to retain selenium compounds in the system using solid sorbents. In this work, t...

On Unburned Carbon in Coal Ash from Various Combustion Units
Work is focused to the study of unburned carbon in ash from coal (and wastes) combustion in 8 combustion tests at 3 fluidised-bed power station, at co-combustion of coal and wastes (also at fluidized bed) and at bench-scale unit simulating coal combustion in small domestic furnaces. The attention is paid to unburned carbon contents in bottom ashes and fly ashes at these 8 combustion tests and t...
